Deaton Group Singing/ Gospel Choir Workshop
Spend your afternoon being part of a fun choir, learning new vocal skills that will develop your singing voice. Maybe meet great people too!
Hello and good day, my name is Dean Edinam and I am excited to be your Choir Director for this workshop.
This is a group singing event that will take on the nature of a gospel choir for the day! (Think of popular tunes from the likes of Kirk Franklin, for example). In this workshop, you will get the opportunity to learn some exciting upbeat songs that you've probably heard a few choirs do. You will fully experience the joy of singing in a group of other interested people, while learning valuable singing skills. It will also be a great chance to learn methods to improve your voice; developing your, pitch, breathing technique, and resonance will be taught here.
If you want to learn how to identify your part while singing with others, or you want to become more confident in your singing voice, or you want to experience the joy of singing in harmony with others, this is the event for you!
Additionally, you'll get the chance to network with other people who love to sing. You'll find out when and where any upcoming workshops will be happening. Also, if you have questions or enquiries about anything singing-related, you can write them down and bring them along to the workshop so we can discuss them. I am very excited to meet you, this is going to be so much fun!

Agenda
-
Introduction, warmups and ice breakers
Trying some fun, enjoyable exercises that help to warm our voices up. After this, we share ice breakers and get each other talking and warmed up for singing.
-
Identifying our parts/singing exercises as a group
Next, you find out what your voice type is and what part you (could)sing: soprano, alto, tenor or bass. After we find this out, the REAL fun starts with learning how to sing in harmony.
-
First song attempt
We finally sing a song in our parts and harmonies, with each singer in each group fully releasing that joyful sound as learned from previous sessions. A simple contemporary pop song to begin.
