Groupwork Facilitation Training

6a, Pavilion BuildingsBrighton, England
Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 10 am to 1:30 pm GMT+1
Overview

Developing confidence in facilitating groups and understanding what helps create a robust and safe group environment

Survivors’ Network is the Rape Crisis Centre for Sussex. Established in 1990, our training is informed through our decades of practice, and embedded position within this sector.

About this course

This training day has been designed to develop participants’ knowledge and understanding of groupwork delivery and facilitation, to help uphold attendees', as well as facilitator's, safety.

Along the way, we will think about intersectionality, trauma-informed principles, managing expectations, setting a group structure, developing and implementing group agreements, anticipating and responding to challenges and more.

"I wish I had this training before starting out, everyone who holds space would benefit from it, whether that is community based, work or teaching"

Learning Outcomes

• Increase confidence in facilitating groups

• Consider the important aspects of what makes a robust group

• Discuss challenges that may arise and how they can be managed

• Consider vicarious trauma and how the work can impact us
