Our Grow Your Own series is designed to give you hands-on experience and expert guidance in organic, no-dig vegetable growing. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills, these workshops will provide practical techniques and tailored advice to help you grow successfully at home.

Led by Amelia Lake, Head Grower at Real Food Garden, each session takes place in a working market garden and includes a tour, practical demonstrations, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions


Grow Your Own – Summer

Saturday, 29th June 2024 | 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM

This session is designed for those who have got a veg garden underway and want to keep their plants healthy, improve productivity, and plan for year-round harvests.


What You’ll Learn:

Soil Health & Fertility: Understanding nutrients, composting techniques, and how to make compost teas.

Plant Health & Common Issues: Learn how to identify nutrient deficiencies, pest problems, and diseases early.

Weed & Pest Management: Organic methods for keeping weeds and pests under control.

Crop Protection: How to use fleece, netting, and other protection methods effectively.

Tool Selection & Care: Choosing the right tools for the job and maintaining them properly.

Successional Sowing & Planning for Winter: How to keep producing vegetables throughout the year and prepare for colder months.

Who are these workshops for?

Our Grow Your Own workshops are designed for anyone interested in growing their own food. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced gardener looking to refine your skills, you'll gain practical knowledge tailored to the season.

Do I need to attend all three workshops?

Each workshop is a standalone session, so you can attend just one or join all three for a full growing season experience. Booking all three workshops gives you a £10 discount

What should I bring?

Suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear – we’ll be outside and hands-on! A notebook if you’d like to take notes. A packed lunch. We’ll provide tea, coffee, & tasters from the garden.

Where are the workshops held?

At Real Food Garden in Cornwall. The exact address and directions will be emailed to you after booking.

Can I buy plants or produce during the workshop?

Yes! We often have seasonal plants, seeds, and fresh produce available to purchase.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Workshops will go ahead in most weather conditions, with covered areas available if needed. Please dress appropriately for the forecast.

Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?

Tickets are non-refundable, but if you can’t make it, you’re welcome to transfer your place to a friend. Just let us know in advance.

How do I book?

You can secure your place by paying a deposit through Eventbrite. The remaining balance will be due on the day of the workshop, payable by cash or card. If you’d prefer to pay the full amount upfront, contact Amelia at amelia@realfoodgarden.co.uk / 07725 857637 to arrange direct payment.
