Have you ever wandered past St Mary’s Parish Church and wondered what it’s all about? How old is the building? Is it Victorian or Medieval? What is its story and how does it fit into the history of the town? As part of the Windows to the Worlds festival, we are inviting you to join a tour of St Mary's Parish Church to learn all about its secretsJoin us on a tour to travel back in time and learn about the history of St Mary’s Parish Church and Barnard Castle. Discover hidden windows, blocked up doorways and follow the traces of one of England’s most famous kings.---------Tour timesThe tour will take approximately 30 minutes and we offer different time slots.Weekdays: daily at 11am and at 3pmSaturday:12:30pmSunday: 1:30pm---------Tickets and walk-insIf you know when you want to join us, we advise you to book a free ticket. We also hold back a small number of tickets for walk-ins on the day. These places will be distributed on a first come first served basis, so book a ticket or arrive early to save yourself a space!---------Keeping you safeIn response to Covid-19, we are following public health guidance and may have additional measures in place, which are carefully designed to keep you and our staff safe and healthy. This means that you will have to wear a mask while you are inside the church, with the exception of those who are medically exempt or under 11 years of age.---------About Windows To The World FestivalThis tour is part of a festival supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the 'Windows to the World' project. From the 12th to the 23rd of July, Windows to the World Festival is celebrating the colourful history of the oldest church in Barnard Castle – through art, music, and history.The church will be home to Journeys – Teithiau, a stunning exhibition of stained glass artwork by Jonathan Cooke, Catrin Davies, Nicola Kantorowicz, Elizabeth Lamont, Rachel Phillips, and Christian Ryan currently exhibited at the Stained Glass Museum at Ely.We will offer workshops, tours, performances and heaps of other exciting activities.
