Let me proudly present the 7th Edition of the Guild Wheel Walk which will be on Friday 7th April 2023 (Good Friday) but first let me tell you a story of how it began.
In 2017 me and my friends wanted to raise money for our friend’s niece Amelia and Family. We all decided to walk the Guild Wheel in Preston instead of cycling it. When organising this event, we only expected 30 walkers but all the community wanted to help in any way possible, we where truly grateful and couldn’t believe the response.
Being an ultra-runner and running distances I love how everyone wants to get involved as I know how mentally and physically challenging these events can be. To get through an event like this you have to support each other, help each other, encourage each other and make sure everyone gets to the end no matter what. It’s down to the walkers doing this event to talk, communicate and get to the finish while still smiling.
The best bit is the finish where everyone gives you a big warm welcome, gets a drink, has some food, then everyone chats about how much they are aching, how they chatted to new friends that they have met, who they walked with, the highs and lows, and how much they enjoyed and hated achieving their personal goal. This is an event which a lot didn’t even think they could achieve or set out to do but they turn up and do it. They love it that much they all come back every year to do it again. 
Over the years we have carried it though as a community and look forward to this walk every year, growing bigger and better, supporting our local organisations and getting more people involved which leads us the next one.
Friday 7th April 2023, we are supporting our 6 local charities - St Catherine’s Hospice, Derian House Children’s Hospice, Rainbow Hub, Lancashire Mind, Baby Beat and NF1 Army. Supported and organised by Christopher Pilkington and the Helping Hands Charity at Leyland Trucks PACCAR Company. 
This year will see a huge milestone because as a fundraising event we have so far raised £16,230 so this year we will hit a massive £20k. Thank you to everyone involved and who have taken part in this event over the last 6 years. We keep going!

This year I am dedicating it to all our loved ones who we are close to who we have lost over the last few years. This is for these fantastic charities who have looked after us and our community through these tough times with their ongoing support and care. 
Event Day Details:
Registration: Eventbrite or on the day with a Just Giving link to encourage sponsorship to share.
Start and finish at the Royal British Legion, Middleforth, Leyland Road, Preston, PR19QH. 
Meet at 0815hrs to set off at 0900hrs prompt.
Last year we opened it up to 3 different stages where there will be volunteers to meet you at these locations and will join the other walkers as they come past so everyone finishes at the same time. Going clockwise around the Guild Wheel. 
Distance: 3 Options.
0900hrs - 21 miles from the Royal British Legion.
1100hrs - 14 miles from Ancient Oak in Cottom.
1300hrs - 7 miles from Bluebell Way, Preston.
Duration: Between 5 and 9 hours depending on stops and pace.
What to bring: Comfortable clothes, good socks, snacks for the route, water available in bottles at the club, comfy walking shoes and a POSITIVE MIND. 
All family and friends wishing to support anyone on the day the Royal British Legion will be open from 1200hrs and everyone is welcome back.
