Bristol Energy Cooperative is partnering with Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) to propose a community-owned solar farm at the GWAAC airbase in Almondsbury.

This public drop-in event is an opportunity to find out more about the project and to provide feedback on the proposals.

  • Details of the studies we've completed so far
  • Members of the development team available to answer any questions
  • Opportunities to see the airbase and proposed solar site first hand
  • Tea, coffee & soft drink refreshments

This event is open to everyone.

When should I arrive?

This is a drop-in session so please feel free to arrive at any time during 3-7pm.

There will be regular opportunities to head outside and see the proposed site.

Please note:

This is an operational airbase so upon arrival please report to the main building.

Frequently asked questions

Arriving by car

Postcode BS32 4FB. The entrance is only accessible from the A38 southbound. If you are coming from the south, you will need to pass The Almondsbury Interchange Hotel and find a safe place to turn around. Heading south on the A38, the GWAAC entrance is immediately after the hotel and a 40mph sign.

Arriving by bus

The T1 and T2 run from Bristol to Thornbury. You will need to get off at the Almondsbury Depot stop, which is immediately north of the M5/A38 junction. The base entrance is slightly north of this, adjacent to the southbound bus stop. The GWAAC driveway is 700m long (10-15m walk from the bus stop).

Can I arrive on foot?

Absolutely, we encourage arriving by sustainable means where possible. Please note, the GWAAC driveway is 700m long (10-15m walk from the entrance).

Can I arrive by bike?

Yes, we have outdoor cycle racks available so please feel free to cycle in.
