The Boyd Orr Centre for Population and Ecosystem Health is an interdisciplinary grouping based primarily at theUniversity of Glasgow with members in the Universities of Stirling, Edinburgh, Copenhagen, the Pirbright Institute, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and a variety of NGOs and charities.It is designed to synthesize the expertise and activities of researchers interested in both the clinical and ecological health of populations and ecosystems.  We have a common interest in quantifying, modelling, and describing ecological and epidemiological processes rather than any particular focus on individual disciplines or taxonomic groups.

<P><SPAN STYLE="font-size: small;"><STRONG>What is it?</STRONG></SPAN><BR><SPAN STYLE="font-size: small;">The primary aim is to generate software that might have some useful application to research. The secondary aim is to share our skills, work together, and learn about what we each do.</SPAN></P>

<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-size: small;"><STRONG>Who is this aimed at?</STRONG></SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-size: small;">Everyone is welcome. We need people that can code, but we also need people that have relevant practical experience out in the field or in the lab. If you’re interested in coming along then please take a step back from your research and think about where there might be a gap in your pipeline (be it data collection, data processing, analysis, visualisation, teaching, and so on), have a chat with your lab group / SIG group, or just come along and we’ll brainstorm some ideas together. </SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN STYLE="font-size: small;">It should be a good opportunity to apply your coding skills and develop software of real use to people within and outwith the institute. Guidance will be provided on R package building and git, but for the most part we’ll be working in teams, sharing our skills. </SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN STYLE="font-size: small;">We have space for 30 people to join us and there will be food and beverages available for participants.</SPAN></DIV>
