Meet Hackney's new Director of Education, Annie Gammon, who will present and discuss proposals to help the borough's schools continue their improvement journey.
Hackney now has some of the very best state schools in the country, and the Council wants to ensure that these achievements are preserved and built upon.
The plans, to establish a Hackney Schools Group Board, have been shaped following extensive discussions with head teachers, school staff and governors. As an independent board, it will provide advice and guidance to the Hackney Learning Trust on key educational issues.
It will act in an advisory role, championing educational excellence in the local school system, promoting improvement, high standards, and ensuring fair access and inclusion for all young people. Sub-groups will focus on issues including professional development, educational standards and support for vulnerable children.
We have organised similar sessions for teachers and governors, and this is event is aimed at residents who would like to find out more.
