About this course

The art of massage has been around for centuries. Used for relaxation and healing, massage helps with the relief of numbness, tingling and stiffness, by applying pressure to areas of your hand or body. During this one-off workshop, we will look at the history behind massage and the benefits it can hold. We will look at health and safety concerns whilst giving and receiving a massage and learn the steps to give yourself a relaxing hand massage leaving your hands, fingers, arms, and wrists revitalized (can also be done with a partner).

By the end of the course, you will be able to demonstrate how to perform a hand massage on yourself and others and have an understanding of the physical and mental benefits gained from this. No previous knowledge is required to attend this course.

Please bring:

  • A drink – water or juice, notebook and pen, cream, hand towel, cushion/pillow

Suggested Reading for the course:

  • Hand and foot massage by Mary Atkinson - An Introductory Guide to Massage by Louise Tucker
