Brighter Sound

Brighter Sound presents an opportunity to learn and play folk, blues, jazz and more from the master of all things harmonica, Mat Walklate.  Join us this autumn for a ten week course welcoming harmonicists of all standards.
There will be three classes, these are:

<LI>Beginners: start from scratch</LI>
<LI>Beginners Continued: extend your new-learned skills</LI>
<LI>Intermediate-Advanced: brish up on your existing techniques and repertoire and push yourself to new heights</LI>

This ever popular course has something for every apsiring harmonica player.

Easy to learn, fun to play, inexpensive and widely used in many styles from folk to classical; with a harmonica you carry a world of music in your pocket. 
Tutor Mat Walklate will dispel the myths and reveal the mysteries.

Beginners learn the fundamental techniques and some simple blues, country and folk tunes (with a bit of Beethoven thrown in). All lessons are taught on diatonic harmonicas in C. The Hohner Silver Star is a good starter model. Beginners Continued class is for those who want to consolidate and build on fundamental techniques whilst learning new accessible tunes.
Players who have progressed to an Intermediate and Advanced level will learn more complicated tunes and techniques (such as note-bending) and some aspects of music theory.

This great series of classes run over ten weeks is led by the renowned blues and Irish traditional harmonica virtuoso and teacher Mat Walklate. Mat currently plays with the Irish traditional group, The House Devils. This course is open to all ages and abilities and will be great fun. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Sign up quickly... this course fills up fast!
Venue: Education Room 1 at Band on the Wall
Full course dates: Tues: 22, 29 Sept.  6, 13, 20 Oct.  3, 10, 17, 24 Nov.  1 Dec.
Times: Beginner 6-7pm. Beginner Continued 7-8pm. Intermediate-Advancased 8pm-9pm.
Price: £70 / £50 conc. / £10 pay per session in advance (online only). NB payments will not be accepted at the box office.
