The Good Practice Mentor (GPM) programme is a new and innovative project that brings together legacy, learning and resources from Ageing Better, a seven year Test & Learn project that worked to reduce social isolation and loneliness in people aged over 50, and engaged more than 150,000 people in over 366 projects.The GPM team includes;South Yorkshire Housing Association, Age UK Camden and Leeds Older People ForumEach partner brings a unique set of learning and skills to the project, and together we offer a wide range of training, bespoke support for your organisation and toolkits and resources to help you on your journey to reducing loneliness and isolation.Find out more about the Good Practice Mentor programme and the range of support on offer by emailingJennie Shrewsbury, Programme Lead - j.shrewsbury@syha.co.uk

Co-production: involving insight & community voice

During co-production week 2024 the Good Practice Mentor Team are delivering two 45-minute "Carry on Co-production" sessions to carry on the conversation with anyone as passionate as we are about improving and enhancing older people services through a "working with" approach. Engaging, involving and working with the people that you are intending to support is vital to the future sustainability of accessible and relatable services, and the growth of collaborative community networks. But how do we ensure we are achieving this in practice? Grab a cuppa and let's have a meaningful co-pro conversation that counts! You'll already have some insight into co-production, be actively testing things out; or have good practice to share, and keen to discuss new ideas with people on a similar journey. Each of the "Carry on Co-production" sessions will focus on a different theme or challenge, and together we will come up with tangible actions that you can take away; or you might like to bring a specific challenge to the conversation on the day. "To foster greater inclusivity and representativeness in co-production, there needs to be a shift in the approach, from reactive to proactive. To ensure effective outcomes, more needs to be done to reach out to diverse communities so that people's needs are met, and all voices are heard". Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) Our co-pro conversation will centre around how we can practicably reach out and actively involve those that we most need to hear from and are missing from our involvement work, also exploring how we can encourage people to take part? So come along and share your ideas, good practice or conundrums and we will come up with a collective plan for action.
