Overview

Come and help us save Scotland's Rainforest through invasive species removal with Nevis Nature Network at Fort William Mountain Festival!

Join us as part of the Nevis Nature Network project at Fort William Mountain Festival in Scotland’s Rainforest to tackle one of its biggest threats: invasive rhododendron ponticum. This fast-spreading plant shades out native plants, alters soil chemistry, and prevents the rich diversity of mosses, lichens, and ferns from thriving. By working together to remove it, we’re opening space for native woodland species to recover - helping restore the rainforest’s unique character and resilience.

Volunteers will learn about the impacts of invasive species, gain practical conservation skills, and make a real difference for the future of this globally important habitat.

This event will take place in Glen Nevis, but the exact location and meeting point will be announced nearer the time.

Please note we will spend most of the day off paths, on uneven ground so please bring sturdy, waterproof footwear as well as waterproofs, enough layers for spending the day outside in winter, and food and drink for the day.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
