Help Save Scotland's Rainforest: Volunteer Invasive Species Removal Day
Come and help us save Scotland's Rainforest through invasive species removal with Nevis Nature Network!
Scotland’s Rainforest is a rare and precious ecosystem, but it faces pressure from non-native conifers like Sitka spruce. These trees grow densely, block light, and disrupt the delicate balance that rainforest species depend on. By removing spruce, we’re giving native broadleaf trees and the rainforest’s extraordinary ground flora — from liverworts to lichens — the chance to flourish again. This volunteer day combines hands-on action with insight into why invasive species threaten our woodlands, and how community effort can restore the rainforest for generations to come.
Volunteers will learn about the impacts of invasive species, gain practical conservation skills, and make a real difference for the future of this globally important habitat.
Please note, the day will start with a short but steep walk up a track and then we will spend the day off-path and on uneven ground so please bring sturdy, waterproof footwear as well as waterproofs, enough layers for spending the day outside in winter, and food and drink for the day.
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
