Welcome to Freshwalks. This challenging day hike which includes four Wainwrights forms part of our wider Helvellyn & Ullswater tour event. This page is for those of you who can't make the entire tour but simply wish to join the main Thursday hike.

Route description

A high level walk starting on the outskirts of Glenridding from our tour base, Almond Lodge bunkhouse. We'll initially head west towards the zigzag path up the side of Kepple Cove and then over Whiteside and Lower Man to reach our summit, Helvellyn. We'll then bear left from the main path at Swallow Scarth to reach Nethermost Pike and Dollywagon Pike before descending the zigzag path down to Grisedale Tarn. We'll then head back to our starting point via the path down Grisedale from the tarn outflow. A challenging and rewarding lakeland walk for experienced and fit hikers.

Most of the tour guests will be stopping over at Almond Lodge bunkhouse the night before as we need to get this hike started ASAP Thursday morning with a planned start time of 9am as we expect the walk to take around 8 hours for the group to complete. Please contact us to enquire about the possibility of a one night stopover.

Parking spots at the lodge might be limited but we'll make arrangements across the group to organise rendezvous points down in Glenridding for onward car-share.

A full information pack will be sent out a couple of weeks before the hike with full kit list but you'll need to bring plenty of drinking water and a substantial packed lunch for a long day in the mountains. Please wear sturdy walking boots with good ankle support and take a layered approach to clothing including waterproofs.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

An event pack will be sent out at least one week before the walk. This should answer most things but feel free to email michael@freshwalks.co.uk with any questions you may have. If you've not received the pack by this time, check your email junk or spam and then contact us. Receiving this pack is essential as it includes important disclaimers and health and safety information.

What's the refund policy?

You can self-manage a refund (minus platform fees) with 7 days notice via the Eventbrite app. We'll transfer your place to a similar future event given 24 hours notice.
