About This Event

HER MOVE: Chess, Theory + Legacy is a welcoming, women-centred learning space designed to introduce and strengthen foundational chess skills while celebrating the women who have shaped the game and redefined strategic thinking.

Created for beginners and developing players, the session focuses on getting participants confidently “up to speed” with the essentials — understanding the board, learning key principles and building the confidence to play with intention. Through guided instruction and supported gameplay, attendees are encouraged to see chess not as intimidating, but as accessible, empowering and deeply rewarding.

Alongside practical learning, HER MOVE: draws inspiration from the legacy of female trailblazers in chess and beyond — women who challenged norms, claimed intellectual space and demonstrated that mastery is built through curiosity, discipline and belief in one’s capacity to grow.

At its heart, the event is about community: creating a space where women can come together to learn, improve, exchange ideas and support one another’s development.
