Join Pontefract Civic Society on an exploration of the architectural styles in Pontefract town centre.
Pontefract town centre's buildings have a range of architectural styles and influences, including the Medieval, Georgian, Gothic, Queen Anne Revival, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Brutalist.
We have had a wide variety of architects that have plied their trade in the town, some of high esteem and nationally recognised, some regional, others local, including a prolific pair. A DIY architect produced positive results, whilst we also had a nationally infamous one, well this is Pontefract.
