About this event

'Alms giving' is the traditional expression for charitable relief.Pontefract was once known as 'The Kingdom of Alms'. This was because no fewer than ten almshouses were founded in the town by the end of the 18th century, and many additional endowments were also made in cash and kind.Almshouses were actually called 'hospitals' in medieval times.

The Nelson Room will be used for this talk which is on the first floor with access by stairs or a lift. Toilets are on the ground floor.
