About this event

Join us at Calverley Old Hall Community Space to try something new in this full day workshop. Led by rag rugging tutor, Kim, from Darn It! Workshops, come along to join like-minded people to learn new skills, or develop your existing skills.

In this beginner friendly session you'll learn two versatile rag rug techniques which you will use to make a piece of wall art, homewares, a brooch or more. Kim will guide you through the techniques, advise you on your final piece design and support you throughout this friendly, sociable session.

Rag Rugging is a technique traditionally used to turn rags into textural rugs. It is eco-friendly, often using recycled or re-used fabrics, whilst producing wonderful, colourful final pieces which can bring joy to your home.

As rag rugging can take some time to complete you may not finish your piece during the session (but if you opt to do a brooch you will do) but you will leave with the tools and skills to be able to complete it at home. There will be a wide range of fabric scraps, recycled materials, colourful rope, buttons and other things to choose from to make your own unique piece.

In order to make this workshop as accessible as possible for all, we are offering a £5 discount on the ticket price for students, people on low income or income support and NHS workers. Please use the code DISCOUNT5 in the promo codes field on Eventbrite when booking your ticket. Unfortunately we are only able to offer this discount on a limited number of tickets. If the code is rejected on Eventbrite, or you can’t add more tickets using the code, it is because we have reached our limit on discounted tickets and only full price tickets are available.

What to expect on the day

All equipment and materials will be provided. Tea/coffee will be available, but all participants should bring their own packed lunch. There are no food heating facilities, but there is a fridge to store your packed lunch in beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't the DISCOUNT5 promo code working?

We are only able to offer a limited number of tickets at this discounted price. So if the code isn't working this means we have sold out of the discounted tickets. If there are still tickets available then you are welcome to book at the full price.
