Gain hands on experience using a variety of equipment while you learn from experts about high speed video technology, data capturing techniques and its vast array of applications. This event is ideal for SME's that use, or could use, video to explore the movement of objects or people. The Centre for Sports Engineering Research at Sheffield Hallam University have worked on ITV's Jump as well as with many sports governing bodies, now you can learn tricks of the trade from the experts.

Who is the event for?

This event is relevant to companies that are interested in analysing the movement of humans or objects. In particular: Sports, Manufacturing, Health, Technology and Television / Media companies and education and researchers in the private sector. Participation is free of charge to qualifying SMEs in the Sheffield City Region.

Draft agenda:

Day one will include: an introduction to high speed video techniques, demonstrations, frame rate & exposure, lenses & lighting and data collection.

Day two will include: measurement error, digitalisation and measurement, presenting results, the future of high speed video technology and techniques.

Anticipated outcomes:

Awareness of high speed video techniques & technologies
Increased ability to capture high speed video images, extract measurements & interpret data
Better understanding of the AWRC and CSER technology, expertise and facilities at SHU
Knowledge of pathways to engage with the AWRC and the Sheffield Innovation Programme

What is the AWRC / CSER?

The Advanecd Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) is a new development at Sheffield Hallam University that brings together a wide range of research disciplines to focus on technical innovations in sport, health and wellbeing. Our research professionals have great experience in working with businesses on research and product development projects.

The Centre for Sports Engineering Research (CSER) is the world's largest academic group in sports engineering and an internationally renowned centre of excellence for research and knowledge transfer.

Our clients include: Adidas, Decathlon, Ping, the FA, English Institute of Sport (EIS), International Tennis Federation, many GB elite sports teams, and Westfield Health. We also have a long and successful track record of working with local and regional SMEs.
