The Careers+ service is delighted to host a wide range of events to support the University's commitment to YOUR personal & professional development and develop your employability.A variety of activities have been organised over the year to help you identify your strengths, values and interests, explore the range of career options open to you, meet employers and receive top tips on applying successfully for postgraduate study, employment and in setting up your own business.Many of these activities and events will count towards your Graduate+ Award so make sure you record your attendance and make it count.Check out all the different opportunities below as they have been designed to help YOU achieve your potential and reach your goals both now and in the future!

BCU: Careers+ and Graduate+ events

<H2 CLASS="MsoNormal">Higher Level Skills Match (HLSM) Project: Developing graduate talent, supporting local business growth</H2>
If you are a local* SME, the Higher Level Skills Match (HLSM) Project will help you find employees, interns and/or project staff, and ensure they are trained and skilled in the areas your business needs to succeed and grow, both now and in the future. You will be able to access a range of training and development opportunities for you as a business leader and feedback your thoughts on what skills you and your employees need, all through one point of contact.
Birmingham City University, Aston University and Newman University, have developed the HLSM project, supported by Cannock Chase, Lichfield and Tamworth local authorities. It will provide local SMEs with bespoke graduate level skills development, recruitment and advice services, drawn from an extensive portfolio of Higher Education skills provision across all three Universities.
There is a growing gap, locally and across the UK between the skills businesses need and the skills job applicants have. The HLSM project will collaborate with local SMEs to offer solutions to this problem.
