About this event

Nationally and internationally recognised, Jesse Hartley, born in Pontefract, and son of Bernard Hartley. Jesse Hartley from an early age was recognised for his abilities in design and construction. His achievements are considerable, yet he is largely unknown outside Liverpool. He is a forgotten hero of the Victorian Age.

Although some topics may specifically relate to Pontefract and the surrounding towns and villages, we do include a wider geography and a broad range of heritage, social history, architecture, events and people. We also host an annual Design Awards event to recognise positive development and regeneration in the area across a number of categories, including the Countess of Rosse Facade of the Year Award.
