Holocaust Brunch explores what it's like living in the shadow of genocide and displacement. Darkly funny, moving and provocative.

Performance Space

This show asks how we can honour the histories we inherit whilst breaking free from them, and whether the weight of inheritance can be turned into a gift.

The audience are invited into a topsy-turvy storytelling space, journeying with Tamara from a place of trauma to some sort of healing. We hear the true survival story of Bluma and Isaac Tischler, travelling from pre-war Poland into the Soviet Union; to medical school in Tajikistan, where they meet and spend most of the War whilst many people they love are murdered; through post-war Eastern Europe to Munich in the midst of &#x27;denazification&#x27;; and to Canada, where they become world-renowned physician and build their lives anew.
In-between these stories, we play a party game called &quot;Top 10 things non-Jews* say to me about the Holocaust (*who believe it happened)&#x27;. Tamara takes us along on her journey as she learns too much too soon in school, has childhood nightmares, experiences her first Jewish mourning ritual for the family cat, fails to avoid the Holocaust in trendy Berlin, faces her trauma in a concentration-camp crematorium in Poland, and comes out the other end. And serves us &#x27;traumatinis&#x27; along the way.

&quot;Holocaust Brunch deals with difficult and challenging subject matter in a way that makes it accessible and emotionally powerful&quot; Battersea Arts Centre.
There will be a short Q&amp;A after the performance.
Funds from this performance will contribute to the Museum&#x27;s education programme.
