The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) is home to the world's largest collection of working historic computers.Follow the development of computing: from the Turing-Welchman Bombe and Colossus of the 1940s through the large systems and mainframes of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, to the rise of personal computing and the rise of mobile computing and the internet.Recognised as one of England’s top 100 ‘irreplaceable places’, we welcome corporate and group visits, schools and individuals from all over the world.We are normally open Tuesday to Friday 10:30 -17:00, Saturday & Sunday 10:30 – 17:00. A special day organised for home educators.  Enabling families to experience the museum with tours and talks available to school groups.

<h3>Home Educators Day</h3>This is a special day organised to enable home educators to explore the museum and take part in activities that are available to school groups. The content of the museum is best suited to students aged 10 years and older. There are additional activities for accompanying younger students including a family back pack and 'Osmo' learning games.All activtives and workshops are included in the entry price. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. Sign up for an activities by arriving at the activity 10 mins before the start.You are free to explore the museum at your pace. There will be guides on hand to support your learning. In addition to this, we have organised talks for you to attend at set times. Please see below.Special Activity:Rocket Cars (a drop in workshop between 11:00-14:00)Students will be challenged to design and create a rocket car using K’NeX. Building their design to incorporate a rocket, they will launch their rocket cars using a pneumatic launcher. Will your rocket car stay together? How far will they travel? Can you keep them in a straight line? Students will have the chance to re-visit their creations, adapting their designs after trailing them. Handling session: Explore the museum's collections and find out how computers have changed over 70 years: Times are 11:00 – 11:40, 13:00 – 13:40Bombe: See Britain's iconic code-breaking machine designed by Alan Turing and Gordon Welchman. Times are 10:30 -11:00, 11:30 – 12:00, 12:30 – 13:00, 13:30 – 14:00Valve to Chip: A comprehensive history of computing (1 hour 30 mins). Times are 11:30 – 13:00, 14:00 – 15:30Turing Test Workshop (min age 10 years): 12:00-12:40, 14:00-14:40Power of Primes: Find out how prime number are used in encryption. Times are 12:00 - 12:40, 14:00-14:40Note: Programme maybe subject to change so check back here for up to date information.
