About this event

  • 6 hours

Quiet Days are a chance to 'Come away' and be still, away from the distractions of everyday life. An opportunity to stop. Rest. Refocus. Re-create.

This 'in-person' Quiet Day in Godalming, Surrey will be held in the home and garden of Di and Jo Osborn, with a maximum of 4 guests. The day starts with refreshments and introductions before saying Hopeweaver Morning Prayer together.

This will be followed by an extended time of silence for you to connect with God in whatever way you find helpful. Some like to journal, others to respond to God creatively using art materials, others to be still, sit outside or to go for a walk.

At 12.00pm we will gather back together to say Midday Prayer/Communion and to have the opportunity to share anything that has struck us during the morning time of stillness if we feel prompted to.

We then have lunch together, with the option for a silent lunch if you should you prefer. Guests bring their own packed lunch, although 'cuppa soup', fruit and cake will be provided to supplement your sandwiches! In the afternoon there is a further time of silence for you to continue connecting with God before the day ends at 4pm.

After you sign up you will receive an email with the details for the exact location and directions. We ask for a donation of between £5 and £10 per person to reflect the cost of materials and consumables used for the day. However, we would not want this amount to prevent anyone from coming so please contact us if this is an issue.

Safeguarding

Keeping each other and our visitors safe is our top priority. For us, safeguarding is not simply a box to tick but an ongoing attitude of love and care, particularly for children and vulnerable adults associated with The Community of Hopeweavers. To this end we follow the Church of England Safeguarding guidelines. If you have any safeguarding matter to raise with the Community then please email safeguarding@hopeweavers.org.uk
