Hull Libraries

Ever wanted to learn to program but don’t know where to start? Or maybe you’ve had a go yourself and felt a little overwhelmed?
In this 2 hour workshop you’ll learn the basics of coding with Python, a modern, easy to understand programming language that can do almost anything. From building websites to machine learning, Python is used in a huge variety of applications and is the fastest growing language in the world, used by YouTube, Netflix, and Google. Python is also the perfect language to use with a Raspberry Pi, the affordable credit card sized computer which is used by makers everywhere (including on the International Space Station!). The workshop is aimed at beginners and will cover the following:

<LI>How Python works and what you can use it for</LI>
<LI>Basic syntax and commands (Hello World!)</LI>
<LI>Loops and If statements</LI>
<LI>Functions</LI>
<LI>Using Python with a Raspberry Pi</LI>
</UL>
This session is open to everyone, you do not need to be a makerspace member to attend. Places are limited to ensure the best support is available. All materials will be provided, including tea/coffee.
Ages 16+.
Hosted in Hull Central Library, MakerspaceHull allows anyone to explore their creativity in arts, science, technology and engineering - independently or collaboratively.
The space has state of the art manual, digital and electronic equipment, skilled staff providing support and workshops, as well as space to create, invent, explore, learn, think and exhibit.
