About this event

The Covid-19 pandemic underscored the need to prepare for high-impact, low-probability risks — and to keep those preparations ready. With climate change increasing the likelihood of flooding, extreme heat, and disease outbreaks, the question is no longer if such events will occur, but when.

The Edge (Edge Debate) will bring together Dame Professor Julia King – Baroness Brown of Cambridge (confirmed), Sir David King (invited), and Professor Brooke Rogers (confirmed) for a thought-provoking discussion on how we assess and plan for these challenges. The event will be hosted at Lucy Cavendish College, chaired by Dr Liam Saddington, Fellow and Teaching Associate in Human Geography. The discussion reflects the College’s mission to address global challenges through education, research, and leadership.
