About this event

Health • Personal health

This is a workshop for people who want to cut down on their sugar intake, or perhaps quit eating added sugar completely.

So many of us turn to sugar to comfort us, to ease cravings, to fill a gap.

And, although it’s obviously not as damaging as alcohol, the impact of sugar on our mental health, our cognitive function, our hormones, our guts, our joints and our muscles, our immune system, is not to be taken lightly.

When we are trying to quit damaging substance or behaviour (like eating too much sugar), it’s important that we support ourselves with self-compassion.

Key to this is understanding why we behave in certain ways.

What makes us feel the way we do, and behave the way we do?

At this workshop, you'll find out how to:

  • Reduce sugar cravings
  • Change damaging patterns of behaviour
  • Implement lasting changes with self-compassion
  • Support low mood, anxiety and insomnia
  • Increase motivation and energy

Workshop Content

  • Is sugar addictive? A brief look at the science behind addiction, and the common drivers behind sugar cravings: genetics; environment (e.g. stress); nutrient deficiencies; gut health; hormones; neurotransmitter imbalances
  • The impact of sugar on the body and brain.
  • Evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle tips to help you: reduce or even eliminate sugar cravings / increase energy levels / alleviate mood swings /support weight loss /lower inflammation / improve sleep
  • How to begin your journey to better health.

The workshop includes practical exercises, and gentle movement and breath to support energy and mood. Handouts are included, and tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

All are welcome.

"Absolutely brilliant. Clear, concise and so helpful. Kind-hearted but utterly professional. It was, for me at any rate, inspiring and on point. I would change nothing. Welcoming, warm and beyond informative." - Helen, previous workshop attendee
