How to create your project management plan

By Planning Aid Scotland
Online event

Overview

Learn about how to project manage your next community-led plan.

Do you have a project in mind but feel unsure where to begin or how to organise everything so it actually gets done? Community-led plans can be time-consuming and demanding, especially when you’re coordinating volunteers and trying to keep the process moving at a manageable pace.

This online workshop will show you how to turn your idea into a clear, structured project management plan you can confidently use to guide your work. We’ll break the work into clear, achievable steps and show you how to set out realistic timeline that suits your community’s capacity and way of working.

If you’re unsure where to begin or feeling stretched by the scale of the task, this session will help you bring structure and clarity to the process.

What you'll learn:

  • How to break a community-led plan into clear, manageable stages
  • Practical ways to organise yourself and your volunteers
  • How to set a timeline that fits your community’s capacity
  • What tasks need to happen first, and how to prioritise effectively

Why it’s worth joining

This session will give you the clarity, structure and reassurance needed to manage a community-led plan without becoming overloaded.

About this training series

This event is part of a new series of training sessions delivered by Planning Aid Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government through the National Planning Hub.

Our programme has been designed to give communities and individuals the confidence and knowledge to play an active role in shaping their local area.

Through these sessions you’ll learn:

  • How to engage effectively with the planning system, particularly around electricity and renewable energy applications, understanding the process, knowing where your voice fits in and how to make it count.
  • How to prepare strong community-led plans (including Local Place Plans and Community Action Plans), learning about relevant community engagement skills and with sustainability at the heart of your approach.

Each session is practical, accessible and focused on real-world challenges.

This is a one-off programme of sessions and will not be repeated, so we encourage early booking if you’re interested. The sessions will be recorded and will be available to rewatch for 3 months.
