How to Get a First Class
A Student Panel on Excelling in Essays, Exams & Presentations
We’re bringing together senior students who achieved a First Class across essays, quantitative exams, group projects and presentations - and we’re asking them exactly how they did it.
No theory. No vague advice. Just practical strategies from students who’ve actually done it.
💭 Want to know what separates a 68 from a 72?
We’ll be unpacking:
- 📚 How to structure high-scoring essays (what markers actually look for)
- 📊 How to approach quantitative exams strategically (revision frameworks, exam technique, time management)
- 🤝 How to stand out in group presentations and coursework
- 🧠 How to manage workload across modules without burning out
This is the session we all wish we had in first year.
💡 Why you should come
Because we all want:
- Clarity on what “First Class standard” actually looks like
- Practical tactics we can implement immediately
- Honest advice about mistakes to avoid
- There will be free food and drinks too!
And yes - we’ll also leave time for open Q&A so you can ask the questions you really want answered.
📍 Event Details
Date: Wednesday 18 March 2026
Time: 13:00 - 14:30
Location: Bush House (NE) -1.-0`1
