How to Get a First Class

How to Get a First Class

Overview

A Student Panel on Excelling in Essays, Exams & Presentations

We’re bringing together senior students who achieved a First Class across essays, quantitative exams, group projects and presentations - and we’re asking them exactly how they did it.

No theory. No vague advice. Just practical strategies from students who’ve actually done it.

💭 Want to know what separates a 68 from a 72?

We’ll be unpacking:

  • 📚 How to structure high-scoring essays (what markers actually look for)
  • 📊 How to approach quantitative exams strategically (revision frameworks, exam technique, time management)
  • 🤝 How to stand out in group presentations and coursework
  • 🧠 How to manage workload across modules without burning out

This is the session we all wish we had in first year.

💡 Why you should come

Because we all want:

  1. Clarity on what “First Class standard” actually looks like
  2. Practical tactics we can implement immediately
  3. Honest advice about mistakes to avoid
  4. There will be free food and drinks too!

And yes - we’ll also leave time for open Q&A so you can ask the questions you really want answered.

📍 Event Details

Date: Wednesday 18 March 2026
Time: 13:00 - 14:30
Location: Bush House (NE) -1.-0`1

Spots will fill quickly - don’t leave this until the night before exams.
