Exploring practical ways to help children and young people with executive dysfunction caused by trauma.

<h4>Trauma can cause a huge impact on what's know as a out 'executive functions'. These functions include: Self-restraint, working memory, emotion control, focus, task initiation, planning/prioritisation, organisation, time management, defining and achieving goals, flexibility, observation, stress tolerance, and more. </h4><h4> </h4><h4>Executive Dysfunction can have a detrimental impact on our day-to-day lives, which is why it's becoming ever more important to understand what's happening inside the brain and build up support stratergies.</h4> This 2-hour session will explore: <ul><li>What is executive functioning? </li><li>How does trauma impact our executive functioning? </li><li>Practical ways you can help a child or young person with executive dysfunction from trauma</li></ul> As always there will be time for questions throughout the presentation.Slides, references and CPD certificates will be available to attendees along with a recording to watch the webinar again for up to 30 days afterwards.

Natasha has worked at Smalltalk SLT in Derby for over 11 years and loves working with all areas of speech, language and communication. She specialises in autism, PDA, ADHD, Executive Function, auditory processing, anxiety, emotional based school avoidance and many more. She uses her DISCO and ADOS qualifications to diagnosis autism as well as diagnosing Selective 'Situational' Mutism and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). She is also a National Language Acquisition Practitioner and loves working with Gestalt Language Processors. Her main role at Smalltalk is to support the EHCP and tribunal process.
