Dr Paula Apascaritei &amp; Professor Marta Elvira, IESE Business School, MadridNavigating uncertainty: How HRM dynamic capabilities contribute to organisational well-being and performanceThe event is organised in collaboration with the ESRC PrOPEL Hub and ESRC InterAct Project Dynamic capabilities represent a debated academic topic: researchers disagree on capabilities’ definition, characteristics and boundaries. However, there is much less disagreement about their existence: intuitively, we know that some organizations are simply better than others, despite being very similar on observable characteristics. In this keynote, we explain how to apply the knowledge and research evidence on dynamic capabilities to HRM by defining ‘HRM dynamic capabilities’ and the mechanisms by which they affect organizational resources and practices, employee well-being and performance. We propose that researching and understanding HRM dynamic capabilities can help organizations navigate uncertainty and prepare their workforce for the challenges that are already in our midst: from labour shortages and hybrid work models to environmental uncertainties such as inequality, sustainability and artificial intelligence.
