Join us for our June IOSH Humber Branch meeting where we’ll be joined by Harold Floyd, Lead Instructor at Elite Force Safety. Drawing on decades of real-world experience and a military background, Harold will share his unique perspective on why manual handling practices have remained largely unchanged for over 30 years and why injuries continue to account for such a significant proportion of lost time incidents.
This session will explore the long-standing challenges associated with manual handling in the workplace. Despite over three decades of guidance, training and technological development, manual handling injuries continue to account for approximately one-third of all lost time incidents across industries.
Our speaker, Harold Floyd, Lead Instructor at Elite Force Safety, brings a distinctive and practical viewpoint shaped by years of military experience and hands-on training delivery. Known for challenging conventional thinking, Harold will take a critical look at why manual handling approaches remain outdated and often ineffective. He will share his experiences working with various industries and highlight the importance of culture, communication, and engagement when trying to improve manual handling outcomes.
This will not be a technical session, but rather a thought-provoking and experience-led discussion aimed at encouraging reflection and positive change in how we approach one of the most persistent issues in workplace health and safety.
