Come Play With Me's annual conference, I Know A Place, is back! Join us at Leeds City Museum on January 31st 2025 as we champion diversity and equity in the music industry through interactive panels, workshops and networking. I Know A Place is focused around supporting emerging artists, industry professionals and creative practitioners from marginalised communities. The conference aims to create a safe space for underrepresented communities to come together and discuss topics that affect them. ACCESSHow to find and enter Leeds City MuseumLeeds City Museum is located on Millennium Square in Leeds city centre, located 0.4 miles from Leeds railway station and 0.6 miles from Leeds bus station. The museum is on a graduated slope, upward from the direction of the train station or downward if you are approaching from Woodhouse Lane. EntrancesThere are two entrances to the museum. The main entrance is accessed via steps with a handrail, or by a ramp (the bottom of the ramp is on the left of the building as you face it).The main entrance has two double doors. The double doors on the left are automated with a press button, and they open outwards.Inside the main entrance, you will be greeted by a Visitor Assistant who will explain which galleries are on which floor. Welcome from the CPWM Team + Networking

Join us for an illuminating conversation hosted by Lily Sturt-Bolshaw (Sunflower Thieves) in discussion with three industry professionals, Cils Williams, Martha Cleary & Pete Bott, who will be sharing their wealth of knowledge across their roles as booking agents, tour coordinators, artist managers, PR agents and music lawyers. In this conversation, these industry experts will demystify often gatekept areas of the music industry and explore how each role interacts with an artist in unique ways.

We're delighted to welcome Dr. Diljeet Kaur Bhachuwill, EDI Officer at the Musicians' Union, who will be hosting a panel titled ‘Live Music and Touring: Safety, Solidarity and Intersectionality’. It’s a topic continuing on from a session at WOMEX and will discuss issues around touring for LGBT+ & marginalised artists, looking at ways in which we can connect with LGBT+ organisations and activists in those areas. A sort of solidarity mapping conversation which will feature well established artists, musicians & songwriters Sans Soucis, Sophie Galpin & Katie Harkin.

Break + Networking

Next Up North is CPWM Records' new artist development programme specifically supporting artists of marginalised sexualities and genders in the North to reach the next stage of their career. This live listening session will be an invaluable opportunity for the 10 shortlisted artists to present their work to a panel of highly respected professionals, receiving feedback that could significantly shape their journey. Atlanta Cobb, founder of Music Industry Mentor, will host this engaging conversation with esteemed panellists Nadia Khan, Christella Litras & Katherine Cantwell, who will blindly select the final 6 artists to take part in Next Up North 2025 from a shortlist of 10.

Established in 2020, Rat Party is a Leeds based queer DJ collective and club night supporting QTIPOC, Sex Worker and Trans+ communities in West Yorkshire and beyond.

Having forged a path for themselves throwing free parties in various outdoor locations to running club nights across Leeds; the trio have earnt a name for themselves as the best club night in Leeds (The Face).

This workshop is included with the regular conference ticket!
