PROTECTING AND PROVIDING ARCHIVES FOR ALL

Public Record Office of Northern Ireland

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) and the International Council on Archives (ICA) invite you to celebrate International Archives Week by attending a practical workshop on Wednesday 5 June 2019.
 
This workshop has been designed to help you discover the essential skills required to begin your search at PRONI. You will receive advice on searching for records, take part in a practical demonstration on using the Public Search Room, and there will be an opportunity to handle original documents in the Reading Room.
There will also be a demonstration of online resources, including PRONI’s Historical Maps Viewer, Street Directories, Will Calendars, and new resources such as RVH Registers and Absent Voters Lists. Key websites for historical research will also be introduced, including 1901/11 Census, Griffiths Valuation, Irish Civil Records, NLI Roman Catholic Registers, District Burial Records, Digital Film Archive, State Papers Ireland, the British Newspaper Archive, and Find My Past.
This practical workshop will last for five hours including a break for one hour, running from 11.00 am to 4.00pm.
This is a free event however spaces are limited.
PRONI does not require you to print your ticket
