About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

You are invited to attend the latest webinar in the Inventory of Carbon & Energy (ICE) Database Insights Series. In this webinar, we will discuss Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). EPDs have become a popular way for manufacturers and suppliers to display the environmental impacts of making their products, with tens of thousands of EPDs now available around the world.

In theory EPDs should be largely standardised, all being produced to the same or similar methods, such as EN15804, and with Product Category Rules (PCRs) intended to add comparability for materials and products of the same classification.

However, during our analysis for the ICE Database, we regularly find large differences (and errors) across the range of Environmental Product Declarations. These can create real world consequences for users of this EPD data.

In this webinar, we will provide an overview of some of the main the differences found in EPDs, and the implications for the ICE Database and EPD users. Expect topics such as:

  • Allocation method
  • Biogenic carbon
  • Product lifetime and functional units
  • Environmental indicators and standards

Whether you're interested in creating, using and understanding EPD data and their distinctions, we will help explain this landscape and discuss the issues it causes.
