About this event
Every 2nd Thursday of the month Ignite holds an in person get together. A relaxed environment to meet people in Chelmsford, have a friendly chat and hear talks on inspiring creative & cultural topics. Our bar serves local beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.
We are often treated to a short performance or taster from speakers - recently we have had a cello performance, beer tasting, poetry reading and storytelling.
No prior knowledge of the topics is needed, and everyone is welcome! If you have any questions about coming along please contact hello@ignitechelmsford.org.uk

Speakers -
Dr Emma Kittle-Pey - The National Saturday Club
I’m a writer, educator, and founder of the writing community Colchester WriteNight. My writing passion is short fiction for performance and reading with others in a community setting, although I have recently written a novel for my PhD in Creative Writing. I have taught at the University of Essex for several years, as well as at ACL Essex and in a primary school. I enjoy all of them, and see myself as a lifelong learner as well as a teacher/facilitator. I also work for Essex Book Festival on several projects, including the Writing & Talking National Saturday Club at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford.
Frankie Garnons Williams - Head of Partnerships, The Advocacy Academy
The Advocacy Academy builds the collective power of young people to bring about change. We train young people with lived experience of injustice to achieve long-term systemic change for themselves and the communities they live in. Longer version: The Advocacy Academy are youth organisers working to create a more fair, just, and equal society, by building the collective power of young people to bring about change. We train young people with lived experience of injustice to achieve long-term systemic change for themselves and the communities they live in. We combine formal instruction in social and economic systems, practical training in community organising, with the heart and soul of radical youth work. We equip young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become active agents for change in the community.
Join Frankie (they/them), who will take us on a journey of how members of The Advocacy Academy work together, build power, make change, and how you can get involved in shifting the World As It Is to the World As It Should Be. Frankie is looking forward to making good trouble with you.
