Image and Object Symposium: Shape-Shifting

TORCH stimulates, supports and promotes research activity of the very highest quality that transcends disciplinary and institutional boundaries, and engages with wider audiences.

This year’s Image and Object Symposium will showcase interdisciplinary research on ‘shape-shifting’. The theme has the potential to encompass human and animal metamorphosis, chemical transformation, cyborgisation, miracles and Transubstantiation. More broadly, ideas shift shape as they are exchanged. The day will feature speakers from across the University of Oxford, including researchers in zoology and anthropology, curators, artists and art historians. Each speaker will deliver a short informal presentation centred on a single object or image, followed by questions.
