  • Imaginative Play - a Journey into Make-Believe and
  • Seeing through Behaviour to the Child Underneath

Course One

Imaginative Play - a Journey into Make-Believe

An incredible exploration into the most important human function of all – the ability to imagine.

Prepare for a journey into a strange world where nothing is as it seems and absolutely anything is possible. This insightful session looks at how imaginative play directly encourages creativity, brain growth, emotional well-being and is one of the most vital processes in childhood, supporting our most vulnerable children to thrive. The session gives delegates a wealth of ideas to take back to their settings to stimulate children’s imaginations. It also explores the fascinating neuroscience of imaginative play demonstrating that imagination is potentially one of the most important developmental processes in any child’s life and one of the most precious gifts they will ever receive.

Warning may contain Dragons!

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Albert Einstein

Course Two

Seeing through Behaviour to the Child Underneath

Supporting Vulnerable Children, Understanding Behaviour and Exploring Inclusion (belonging not attending.)

This insightful session explores key elements of supporting vulnerable children by looking at the vital role of the adult to nurture, stimulate and play. These simple interactions will ultimately help our children to thrive. The session explores how vulnerability manifests in the behaviour of our children and demonstrates how sensitive practitioners can see through the behaviour to the child underneath. The session details some of the latest neuroscience of behaviour and proposes simple effective strategies to support our children.

The session then explores how practitioners can proactively apply inclusive practice so that all of our wonderfully diverse children can thrive in our care. By focusing on creating positive experiences and engendering a sense of belonging and joy in our children we can radically improve the emotional well-being or our children, especially those who may be struggling. This session is a breath of fresh air with simple “common sense” approaches to profoundly benefit our children.
