The field of biomedical imaging utilises advanced technologies to capture, analyse and display images at the organ, cellular and molecular level. In this seminar, two leading experts will discuss how they are using different imaging techniques to investigate and help tackle cardiovascular disease. 
 
 Dr Chris Dunsby is a Reader at Imperial College London with a joint appointment between the Department of Physics and the Centre for Pathology. His talk will explain how advances in optical microscopy are for the first time enabling scientists to study the microscopic origins of irregular heartbeat, or cardiac arrhythmia.
 
Professor Dudley Pennell is Professor of Cardiology at Imperial College London and Director of the Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) unit at the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. He will outline advances in managing heart disease made through innovations in imaging using magnetic resonance, focussing on inherited cardiac conditions.
 
Lunch will be served following the seminar.
