Identity is imagined, it is created but that doesn't mean you are always the creator. Who are you in YOUR imagination?
This event series intends to use books as a material object which we can use to help increase our imagination. Each discussion circle focuses on a different question using a different book to create new relationalities and knowledge in the space.
This is number 2 which will centre on identity using "I who have never known men" by Jacqueline Harpman.
The book serves as an entry point into the discussion, discussing how the book brings about notions of identity and imagining who we are in the setting of the book itself. Before we internalise the discussion and think : "Who are we?"
Capitalist nation states have imagined and created identities for us that work in the upkeep of their own imagined identities so who would we be outside and in resistance to them??
