IMPACT: Reaching Out conference focuses on using creativity to achieve meaningful engagement and positive mental wellbeing outcomes.

Aimed at health professionals, arts organisations, third sector partners and the education sector, delegates will take part in inspirational workshops and presentations for a unique and immersive experience.

Covering a range of engaging projects and insights on arts and health our speakers include:

  • Clive Parkinson is the Director of Arts for Health at Manchester Metropolitan University; the UK’s longest established arts and health unit. Sharing his passion and wealth of experience, Clive offers his perspective on the positive impact the arts can have on mental wellbeing, while offering some gentle words of caution around political spin and hype that surround our growing agenda.
  • Early Help & Schools department from Rochdale Council
  • START are Inspiring Minds through their recent project, Creative Escapes, working with partners who support people with Dementia. Rachel Jones (Project Manager) will be presenting how the project was delivered and their findings when comparing two different engagement methods.
  • Arc (Arts for Recovery in the Community) in Stockport

Inspiring workshops focusing on creative engagement by:

Art for Wellbeing team at Cartwheel Arts including:

  • Demonstrating a person-centred approach for creative projects

    An introduction to project design, based on the Design Thinking method, which places the beneficiaries needs at the centre and promotes innovation. Working through example activities, you’ll come away with some ideas and a basic toolkit to start you off on this method of meaningful project development.Focus group feedback post-it board

  • Holding Spaces for Creative Exploration

    Discover the art making process and creative exploration as a participant within a safe space. Reflect upon the creative process and your experience as a group. This workshops offers you the opportunity to experience an Art for Wellbeing workshop and how a Qualified Emotional Support worker and experienced Artist work collaboratively to deliver a session.Group taking part in Art for Wellbeing workshop

  • Festival of Wellbeing

    This creative workshop encourages a new perspective of observation, artmaking and sensory reflection on the elements of engagement through creativity. It is an opportunity to think creatively about a concept that has no boundaries into what is possible, a space to design, collaborate and reveal what is important to you. We will be doing this through the activity of creating a festival of wellbeing based on free thinking and creative making, exploring what wellbeing means and what it looks like for you.Group creating their festival of wellbeing

Headspace Bolton presents:

  • Comedy, Creativity and Craziness

    This workshop will explore the use of comedy as a tool to engage participants, partners and communities and will offer opportunities to identify how community arts and health organisations can tap into their participant’s inspiration and ambition to establish strong partnerships and drive change.Headspace Bolton logo

Also throughout the day: Information stalls, game demos, Q&A sessions, film screenings and an exhibition of local art work.
