About this event

  • 5 hours 30 minutes

The course aims to give you a little more confidence on the wheel as you improve from beginner status, tips on achieving consistency and introducing new forms.

We will give guided tuition for your ability stage, an electric or manual kick wheel to use for the duration, all the clay you require and demonstrations and kiln firing of a selection of finished work.

The teaching style will be relaxed but hands on and with guided practice sessions so you should see improvements in your throwing style over the duration. The course will also cover a degree of trimming, decoration, handle making and bringing your pots into use. In this improver course we will aim to make a table set including a tall water jug, 4 tumblers, a serving bowl and flat dish/tray. (Anything made beyond these items can be fired at a small additional cost to cover firing.)

The course is aimed for those who have had some regular experience on the wheel at some point, and can throw cylinder shapes at a basic level with some degree of consistency.

Held at Sea Drift Pottery in Holy Loch Marina, Argyll, PA23 8FE. There are toilets and a coffee shop on site plus plenty parking and great views.
