In 'Broken Threads: A Family from Empire to Independence', Mishal Husain revisits the story of the Indian Independence and Partition through the lens of her family story.
Drawing from historical archives, family memoirs, letters, and conversations with living relatives, Mishal weaves a beautiful and emotional narrative. The lives of her grandparents and their generation are explored before, during and after 1947, making the history accessible and relatable.
From the leaders of the time to everyday life, ‘Broken Threads’ shines a light on the past, including carelessness and haste on the part of key British officials, which have had far-reaching consequences.
We look forward to welcoming you to:
• A thought-provoking discussion on Mishal’s personal family stories of Partition
• Book signing and networking opportunities
Refreshments and hot drinks will be served.
