Artists <a href="https://twitter.com/soficrespo91" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sofia Crespo</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/pointline_" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Iskra Velitchkova</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/williamapan" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">William Mapan</a> are joined by <a href="https://twitter.com/DoddsDouglas" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Douglas Dodds</a> (independent curator, former Senior Curator, V&A) for a discussion on the history of generative art from 1960s to now, the role of institutions on digital art education, the NFT effect on digital art and more. As Editor-in-Chief at Right Click Save, he aims to drive critical conversation about NFTs, blockchain, and Web3. He is also Contributing Editor for Art and Technology at Flash Art, establishing the magazine’s digital column, “The Uncanny Valley,” as a bridge between contemporary art and new media. He contributes to numerous publications – from Frieze to the Financial Times – and recently published the first aesthetics of crypto art: a data-driven study of the early genesis of the NFT phenomenon.PanellistsSofia Crespo is an artist based in Lisbon. Her work seeks to capture the way in which generative lifeforms manifest in the digital art space. She focuses on the portrayal of biologically inspired technologies in particular, showcasing how the artificial mimics the natural, through creative expression and the consideration of both organic and man-made spheres of life. Notable works including Neural Zoo (2018/2019), {} Cromatophores (2020) and Artificial Remnants 2.0 (2019/2020).Iskra Velitchkova is a Bulgarian self-taught artist who lives and works in Madrid. With a focus on the interplay between machines and humans, her works speak to the limitations of the human condition in contrast to the constant evolution of new technologies. Notable works including Uninhabitable (2021), -GRAPH (2021)William Mapan is a pioneer in the digital art space. With a background in software development, he combines computer science with his passion for pigment, light and textures, as evident in his three-dimensional artworks. Notable works including Dragons (2021) and Anticyclone (2022)Douglas Dodds is an independent curator and researcher. He is a former Senior Curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, where he curated his exhibitions, including Chance and Control: Art in the Age of Computers (2018-2020) and Digital Pioneers (2009-2010). Dodds has been involved in projects exploring the digital aspects of art history and has led significant archival digital research for the V&A Museum.
