Join us for this inclusive nature cycle where everyone is encouraged to come along and learn more about the wonderful trees around us

Herne Hill Velodrome - Upon entering, follow the path along the right hand side, through the car park.

Meeting at Herne Hill Veledrome at 10am to head off at around 10.25am, join us for this inclusive nature cycle. Everyone is encouraged to come along and discover the excitement of urban plant hunting, with a particular focus on the wonderful trees in Peckham Rye Park. This will be a gently paced cycle with an opportunity to pick up a bit of lunch at the Peckham Round Cafe at around 12.30pm - after which you will be able to split off from the group. Alternatively, you are welcome to continue to explore until 3pm.The morning session from 10am to 12.30pm will benefit from the presence and knowledge of writer and tree expert Chris Schüler a freelance writer, journalist and cultural historian. His book, Along the Amber Route: St Petersburg to Venice (also from Sandstone), an epic travelogue through Eastern and Central Europe, was hailed as ‘timely and powerful’ by the Financial Times, shortlisted for Stanford Dolman Award and longlisted for the Wingate Prize. He has written on literature, travel and the arts for The Independent, The Tablet, the Financial Times and the Daily Telegraph. A former staff member with the Rough Guides and The Independent, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 2011.Chris will introduce you to some of the wonderful trees and wild plants of south-east London. Learn more about the trees and other plants with which you share our city. After lunch the group will be led by Charlie Fernandes of Wheels for Wellbeing.This event is open to everyone, no matter their limitations, and would be especially beneficial for individuals who find it easier to cycle than walk! This event has been organised in partnership with Wheels for Wellbeing, a charity who have worked with thousands of Disabled children and adults who face barriers to taking part in any physical activity and have shown that anyone can enjoy cycling, given the right equipment, support and environment.People without disabilities are also very welcome!If you need an adapted bike for this event, Wheels for Wellbeing can provide the cycling equipment you require. Tickets are £5 per attendee for working adults or £2.50 if you are not working, over 60 or under 15.
