ABOUT THE CUISINE

Indian cuisine is one of the most diverse in the world, shaped by centuries of regional traditions, cultural exchanges, and vibrant food practices. From the spice-rich curries of the north to the coconut-infused dishes of the south, India’s food reflects a deep connection to heritage, family, and fresh ingredients. ABOUT THE CHEF

A message from chef Vidya:

“Namaste! My name is Vidya, I am from India! A self taught Indian Home cook with a lifelong passion for sharing the bold and beautiful flavours of traditional Indian cuisine. Raised in a family where food brought everyone together. I learned to cook by watching and helping my mother prepare everything from everyday rotis to elaborate festival feasts.

Now based in London, I teach hands-on cooking that makes Indian cooking approachable, fun and deeply authentic. My focus is on vegetarian meals.

The cooking class is more than just a cooking session, it will be a joyful experience filled with personal stories, practical tips and delicious results you can recreate at home.

Over the years I have perfected the art of making authentic, flavourful Indian meals. My approach to cooking is all about balancing spices using fresh ingredients and making traditional recipes.

I can't wait to welcome you into my class where every dish is a story and every bite brings us closer. Let's cook, connect and celebrate the spirit of India from my Kitchen to yours.”

Join Vidya's hands-on, social cookery class in London to learn to make authentic Indian dishes — and celebrate the flavours, skills, and culinary traditions refugees bring to the UK.

THE CLASS FORMAT

Our cookery classes are family-style - meaning everyone works together to prepare the dishes as a team.

While you’ll be asked to choose one dish to focus on, you’ll have the opportunity to move around the kitchen, help with other dishes, and learn from each recipe. It’s a fun, social, and collaborative way to cook! At the end of the class, you’ll sit down with the chef, class facilitator and volunteers to enjoy the delicious meal you’ve created together.
