The <a href="https://www.qmul.ac.uk/busman/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">School of Business and Management</a> and <a href="https://cgrblog.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Centre for Globalisation Research</a> (Queen Mary University of London) welcome you to join the lecture by Professor Granville, one of the leading experts on inflation and author of the book Remembering Inflation.Against the present backdrop of the worst Inflation episode in the advanced industrialised economies since the 1970s, Brigitte Granville's public lecture will compare causes and cures - a story centered on the mistakes of governments and central banks.

Brigitte Granville is Professor of International Economics and Economic Policy in the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London, and Head of Department of Business Analytics and Applied Economics. With a careful attention to theoretical underpinnings in monetary economics, Brigitte&#x27;s research focuses on the application of macroeconomics to critical contemporary public policy issues, as reflected in a series of recent journal publications on inflation and poverty reduction. The best known of her essays, Remembering Inflation (2013), has been widely cited by economists. Brigitte&#x27;s career has included periods working in international financial institutions, investment banking and consultancy work for governments on macroeconomic policy questions. During the 1980-90s, she worked on consultancy assignments for: the World Bank in Washington DC, the United Nations Development Programme in Gabon, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris, the Ministry of Finance of the Government of the Russian Federation in Moscow, as a member of a team of international economists under the direction of Jeffrey Sachs; the Government of Ukraine in Kyiv in a team directed by Anders Åslund as part of a programme financed by the UK government’s Know-How Fund; the Central Bank of Uzbekisan in Tashkent as part of a programme financed by USAID. In 2007, Brigitte was appointed a Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, a decoration awarded by the French government for services to education.Agenda5:00-6:00 pm Lecture (including Q&amp;A session)6:00-7:00 pm Reception (Foyer area)
