There is no pedestals, but a welcoming, warm, inclusive atmosphere. We make space for our unique stories, emotions, experiences.A sense of comfort can emerge from being witnessed with empathy, kindness and tenderness. Magic happens when people who gather hold space for one another’s deep transformations.“Since the dawn of time people’s best medicine have always been other people.”A space where we can reconnect with our inner compasses and feel more grounded and resourced to enrich the world with a generous outpouring of our inherent potential to love and authentically connect. When?The group meets on a weekly basis. Saturdays, 10:20am (for a 10:30am start)to 1:30pmUpcoming dates: 2 May, 23 May, 30 May, 13 June, 20 June, 27 June*No group on 9 May*No group on 6 June How can the Inner Child Therapy help me?Unhealed trauma means our present relationships often trigger us, pulling us back emotionally to unresolved pain. Often, we don’t even realise it. If we lack clear memories of what happened, we might not understand why we react the way we do. Our reactions can seem disproportionate to the present moment, but they are proportionate to the source situation that caused the original wound. The emotions resurface, as they call out for validation, honouring, resolution.In the moment of trigger, it is like the inner child within us starts to steer the ship. We begin to see through the eyes of the wounded child frozen in time. The people stood right in front of us start to appear as demons from the past, shapeshifting into our past oppressors, those who caused us pain when we were helpless. But people who point to our wounds, aren’t responsible for them. In fact these people are signposting us home. It is just a call. A call for us to become parents/caregivers to the child within and to offer that child what was needed for a healthy development.When we don’t process these responses, we carry hidden parts of ourselves that remain stuck in time. The body still wants to act, still believes it needs to protect itself from the threat it never got to escape.In inner child therapy, we personify this energy into versions of ourselves we once embodied, an infant, a toddler, a teenager, even an adult that is younger than our current selves. We then live out the trauma situation within a visualisation, allowing emotions to safely be expressed in an environment of support and empathy. The child's righful response is honoured, validated and the emotions find a gate to emit. We then ask the inner child what she/he needed in that moment and we offer that very thing. The medicine varies and is acutely unique to each child:-the child is removed from the perceived or realistic danger-a protector steps into the picture to shield the child from the opressor-the child is tenderly embraced by a safe adult or a trusted animal-we restore our birthrights to sense of clarity, presence, connection, belonging, reassurance, respect, justice, freedom, autonomy, joyThe antidone we create in visualisation liberates us from the helplessness we were once imprisoned within, as fully dependant children. That helplessness is not our fate!Growing up in a dysfunctional environment, we aren’t equipped with skills to form healthy bonds, connections. This is a chance to reparent, embody the quality of care we always deserved!This container offers a space to take care of our fragmented story. The story of a body, that years to live without chains.
