'Insect Identification' with Zoe Pearson

Join us on the first Saturday every month for an open day atCivic Streetto volunteer, participate and drop-in to workshops, events, talks and collective making. Taking the site as a commons, a resource to be shared, we ask you to get involved in activating the area through building, planting, growing, cooking and play. We will offer different levels of engagement through these hosted activities - allowing you to get as involved as you choose. In return we will give you the time and space to learn new skills, connect with the site and meet new people. Through this process of cooperation with each other and the ecology of the street we hope to create a hub of collaboration, community and democratic exchange which will shape the development of the site into the future.

Civic Street Open Day | July 2nd

Join us on July 2nd for the third Civic Street Open Day with a series of workshops and activities looking at methods of creation and ecological thinking through making, examining, collaging and imagining.

Insect Identification - 11:00 to 13:00Using simple tools such as magnifying glasses, jars and pooters Zoe Pearson will lead an Identification workshop of the insects who live at Civic Street - thinking about the area&#x27;s biodiversity and offering simple methods of naming to develop a greater ecological awareness of urban spaces in Glasgow. This workshop will run in the morning until lunch at 1 PM.Insect Making - 13:00 to 16:00In the afternoon, from 2 - 4 PM, Zoe will host an ‘insect making’ workshop, where we can learn how to make insect sculptures from willow branches that can be placed back into the green space at Civic Street - perhaps becoming homes for the insects!
