Insect Walk
Be part of a wonderful weekend celebrating our amazing meadows at Nene Wetlands as part of the Farming for the Future project and National Meadows Day.
This event is being run by the Farming for the Future project which is one of sixteen National Heritage Lottery funded projects forming the Nenescape Landscape Partnership, working within the Nene Valley.
We are working with farmers and landowners in this catchment to help restore and create meadow and wetland habitats and prevent watercourse pollution through the provision of capital items on farmland.
More than 97% of our meadows have been lost nationally and so a primary aim of our work is to celebrate, protect and conserve the few remaining meadows that we have, and enable a better understanding of these crucial habitats to local communities.
Join our insect expert Ryan Clark for a wander around Ditchford Meadow. Usually inaccessible to the public, Ditchford Meadow is home to a wide range of insect species, including a number of rarities.
Learn how to survey and identify these wonderful insects and help us build up a list of the wonderful range of species that the site is home too. We will be looking for everything from beetles to butterflies and solitary bees to shieldbugs.
Please arrive ready to start at 10:30am.
